Patricia Sarrafian Ward was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon and is of American-Armenian-Danish heritage.  She moved to the United States at the age of eighteen.  She holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan, where she received numerous awards, including Hopwood Awards in Novel and Short Fiction.  Her novel, The Bullet Collection, about two sisters growing up in wartime Beirut, was published by Graywolf Press in 2003.  Her short stories, poems, and essays have appeared in a number of journals and anthologies, and she has held residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Chateau de Lavigny.

        In the past few years, Ward has devoted her time to the book arts.  She is an Artist Member of the Center for Book Arts in NYC, where she was awarded a fellowship for the Fine Press & Letterpress Printing Seminar in 2005.  Her installation "Re/Vision," composed of book-objects made from the shreds of a rejected novel, will be on exhibit there in 2012.  This installation and her miniature books have also been shown in Boston-area galleries.
